Enactments and Improvisations in Corporate Communities
Interested
in the ways identity is expressed by human gestures, I have made a
series of performances and drawings based on interviews with corporate
employees.
Having an office as an artist-in-residence inside the office of the Global
Consulting
Group corporation in
ranging from the receptionists to CEOs, to visit my office. I interviewed the visiting
employees and asked them to direct me as I enacted the physical gestures they
felt
best expressed their daily actions in the office. I performed these gestures in front of
a video camera. I made pencil drawings from stills of the gestures captured in
the
recorded video.
