ATTENTION: The deadline for submitting an application for admission has been changed to DECEMBER 15th.
- All applicants must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Aptitude Test. The institution code is 3514. The department code is 1902.
- Applicants whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The institution code is 3514. The department code is 92. The minimum score required is 600 paper-based/250 computer-based/100 internet-based. We also accept the IELTS. The minimum required score is 7.
- Applicants from all disciplines are welcome. Applicants need not have majored in political science, though prior course work in political science or related subjects, such as history, economics, philosophy, psychology, or sociology is helpful.

- Students are admitted as degree candidates only for September.
- Individuals wishing to enroll in one or more selected subjects instead of a degree program may apply for admission as a Special Student. Please consult with the MIT Office of Admissions (617-253-4897) for application information.
