James
M. Snyder, Jr.
Arthur and Ruth Sloan Professor of Political Science and Professor of Economics. Professor Snyder's primary research and teaching interests are in formal theory and methodology, with special emphasis on applications in American politics. He has written on elections and campaign finance, legislative behavior and institutions, and more recently, direct democracy.
His articles have appeared in the American Journal of Political Science, the Journal of Public Economics, the Journal of Political Economy, Econometrica, the American Political Science Review, the Journal of Law and Economics, Legislative Studies Quarterly and other journals and edited volumes. Professor Snyder taught for six years in the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago, and has been the Postdoctoral Fellow in Political Economy at the Graduate School of Industrial Administration, Carnegie Mellon University.
