Mayumi Fukushima is a doctoral candidate in Political Science with interests international relations and security studies. She was a deputy director at the Japanese foreign ministry (1999 - 2010) primarily responsible for US-Japan relations and international security issues. Her research areas include: the causes of war, crisis management, regional security in Asia, nuclear proliferation, game theory and strategic decisions.
