The new CIS working group on Development: Local Perspectives on Global Justice focuses on how issues of development manifest locally, paying close attention to different political, social and cultural contexts. We are particularly interested in connecting development to problems of global justice. Following this call, the working group aims to bring practitioners from the field together with researchers working on empirics and theory. Through this working group we hope to connect scholars and students at MIT who are working on issues related to development across different geographical regions and through a variety of disciplinary lenses. It offers an opportunity to share ideas, learn about one another's research, and build connections for collaboration.
The working group is advised by Professors Richard Locke and Michael Piore. We meet regularly during the semester in the evenings. For more information please contact one the group's co-chairs: Akshay Mangla (amangla@mit.edu) and Matthew Amengual (amengual@mit.edu).
