Research Description
Traditional ideal fuel compounds, like iso-octane, are composed of highly branched carbon chains. While there are some natural routes towards highly branched carbon chains they predominately exist in secondary metabolic pathways. I am interested in exploring the manipulation of primary metabolism towards the synthesis of fuel-like compounds.
