Peter Weise works as a lecturer in German in MIT's School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. Prior to joining MIT in 2007, he held lecturer positions at Boston University and Georgetown University. 

His academic research centers on German Jewish literature after the Holocaust, with a particular focus on East Germany. He has also done extensive research on autobiographical narratives of the Holocaust.

Weise is a frequent presenter on the North American conference circuit, having delivered papers at regional and national conferences on a wide range of issues from Holocaust literature to contemporary literary developments in Germany, from the culture and politics of European integration to advanced issues of content-based instruction in the second language classroom. He has written several articles for academic periodicals and journals as well as contributed to an anthology. Weise is currently working on a book manuscript dealing with German-Jewish literature in the GDR under consideration for publication in the series Studies in German Jewish History with Peter Lang Verlag (Frankfurt a.M., Bern, New York).

Jin Zhang joined the MIT Chinese program in 2000, and has been teaching Chinese language classes at all levels. She has developed Eeb-based Hanyu Pinyin for Mandarin Speakers and Asian Games Village: A Neighborhood in Beijing for Chinese learning.

From 2008 to 2010, she served as coordinator for Chinese at MIT. Outside of MIT, she has taught Chinese at the Princeton in Beijing summer program and the Middlebury College Chinese Summer School in Vermont. Before coming to MIT, Zhang taught English as a foreign language in Beijing, China, and Chinese at Princeton University. She received her MA in translation from Nankai University, Tianjin, China in 1996.
