MIT Professional Education Unveils Four New Short Programs for U.S. and International Science and Engineering Professionals Seeking the MIT Experience
Enrollment is now open for courses running June 16 – July 21
on topics from Smart Cities to 3D Printing
Cambridge, Mass. – March 27, 2014 – MIT Professional Education has added four new courses to their Short Programs offerings for summer 2014. Geared toward professionals from the United States and abroad who seek the MIT experience in a condensed timeframe, the new Short Programs courses offer executives, managers, as well as scientists, engineers, and technical professionals worldwide the opportunity to engage with MIT faculty to gain crucial knowledge and take home applicable skills. MIT Professional Education’s newest courses are: Beyond Smart Cities; Engineering Leadership for Mid-Career Professionals; Understanding and Predicting Technological Innovation: New Data and Theory; and Additive Manufacturing: From 3D Printing to the Factory Floor, and will be held on the MIT campus in Cambridge, Mass.

MIT Professional Education provides a variety of education and professional training programs for science, engineering and technology professionals worldwide. Their Short Programs offer professionals more than 40 industry focused two- to five-day sessions, taking place primarily in the summer. Participants learn from leading MIT faculty and gain crucial knowledge to help fuel their careers or enhance their companies in a collaborative academic setting. Upon completion, participants receive an MIT Professional Education certificate of completion, continuing education units, and access to MIT Professional Education’s expansive professional alumni network.

- Beyond Smart Cities (June 16 – 18) Understand the complexities of cities through the use of big data urban analytics and the design of new urban systems for high-density cities.
- Engineering Leadership for Mid-Career Professionals (June 23 – 27) Effective leadership and communication techniques for mid-career engineers – vital skills needed to advance in a career.
- Understanding and Predicting Technical Innovation: New Data and Theory (July 14 – 18) Organized around three modules (1) Data, (2) Theory, and (3) Application.
- Additive Manufacturing: From 3D Printing to the Factory Floor (July 21 – 25) A comprehensive overview of additive manufacturing, spanning from fundamentals to applications and technology trends.
MIT Professional Education also offers national and international professionals the capability to take Short Programs courses abroad, regular MIT academic courses offered through the Advanced Study Program, online courses, or customize an educational experience for a group of employees at a company site.
