MacVicar
Day 2003
PLACES FOR LEARNING
New Classrooms/New
Teaching and Learning
MacVicar Day 2003, MIT's annual opportunity to focus on undergraduate
education, highlighted the integral relationship between the
rethinking of effective educational methods and the changes
to the physical space in which teaching and learning take
place.
MacVicar Day 2003 was held on Friday, 7 March. It began with
a presentation by William J. Mitchell, Academic Head, Media
Arts and Sciences, entitled "Places for Learning: New
Functions and New Forms."
The community was then invited to visit recently renovated
classrooms and talk with faculty and students about the transformed
teaching and learning taking place in these spaces.
