MacVicar Day 2006

March 3, 2006, 3:00 to 4:30 pm, Stata Student Street
UROP & Beyond: MIT Students in the Lab and in the World

The MacVicar Faculty Fellows Program was named to honor the life and contributions of the late Margaret MacVicar, Professor of Physical Science and Dean for Undergraduate Education at the time of her death in 1991. Each spring the Fellows sponsor MacVicar Day, MIT's annual recognition of undergraduate education.

MacVicar Day 2006 was celebrated on March 3, 2006. The MacVicar Faculty Fellows for 2006 were announced by Provost L. Rafael Reif at a formal ceremony at the MIT Corporation Lunch.

In the afternoon on the Student Street in the Stata Center the public attended a program consisting of student-presented poster sessions focusing on the exciting work MIT students are doing in laboratories on campus and in the world at large. Showcased work included innovative public service projects that transform the MIT education experience as they transform communities worldwide, including projects from the IDEAS Competition, the Public Service Fellowships program, and D-Lab.

MacVicar Day - Friday March 4, 2005, 3:00-4:30 pm, Room 6-120 - What should we achieve in a four-year MIT education? - a discussion with the Task Force on the Undergraduate Educational Commons - hosted by Professor Robert J. Silbey, Chair of the Task Force
