FOR NOMINATIONS
2009 MACVICAR FACULTY
FELLOWS
Members of the MIT Community
are encouraged to nominate candidates. The program
description and requirements, listed
below, are provided to guide the nomination process.
Who is eligible
All tenured, full-time members of the regular faculty are eligible
for appointment as a MacVicar Faculty Fellow. Junior faculty are
eligible for a three-year MacVicar Faculty Fellowship. These are
convertible to regular ten-year MacVicar Faculty Fellowships if
tenure occurs.
Where and when to
submit
The "Nomination requirements"
(listed below) outline what a nomination must include.
Nomination
Requirements
- A nomination letter
detailing the contributions of the nominee to undergraduate education.
- An endorsement by
the nominee's department head.
- Three supporting
letters from faculty.
- At least three supporting
letters from present or former undergraduate students, commenting
on the undergraduate teaching of the nominee.
- A curriculum vitae
of the nominee.
- A list of undergraduate
courses, including the number of students taught by the nominee.
It is useful to include
detailed information about the courses taught by the nominee, as
well as their teaching accomplishments, style, and innovations.
The Call for Nominations for 2009 MacVicar Faculty Fellows was sent out by the Provost on September 10, 2008. Nominations are due by Friday, November 14, 2008.
2009 MacVicar Faculty Fellows will be announced on MacVicar Day, Friday, March 6, 2009.
