Description of Research
Dr. Watford is a full time administrator in the College of Engineering. As Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, she is responsible for all matters pertaining to the education of the undergraduate engineering students. This includes curriculum and accreditation issues, and student progress towards degree.

As Director of Minority ENgineering Programs, she has been responsible for implementing various programs to improve the recruitment and retention of under-represented engineering students. These include undergraduate research programs, mentoring programs for freshman, summer bridge programs, and various activities for pre-college students.

Special Honors or Awards
Recently selected as the 1997 Charles E. Tunstall Outstanding Minority Engineering Program Director by the National Society of Black Engineers for outstanding contributions to the recruiting, retention and graduation of Black engineers.

Recipient of the 1996 Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Affirmative Action Award for outstanding contributions toward the support of diversity at the University.

Recipient of the 1989 Young Engineer of the Year Awardby the South Carolina Society for Professional Engineers.

Selected as an outstanding Young Woman of America 1985 and 1987.
