project name |
Admissions 10th-Grade Search brochure |
MIT client |
Office of Admissions |
date |
January 2003 |
audience |
10th-grade high school students who are prospective applicants to MIT |
goals |
Increase interest in and awareness about MIT during the early stages of high school students' inquiry into universities. |
strategy |
Use profiles of current MIT students to show that MIT is an environment that supports and includes people of myriad backgrounds, interests, and goals. The broad matrix of examples allows high school students to imagine opportunities at MIT for pursuing their own dreams and being able to contribute to the future of humanity.
Using an unusual format, the unfolding of the brochure is a metaphor for the readers' discovery of MIT and the profiled students' journey of self discovery at MIT. The quirky illustrations and off-beat photographic portraits illuminate the individuals coming together.
|
benefits |
Prospective high school applicants are able to see beyond the stereotypical image of MIT (all engineering all the time) and envision a world where they might participate. Sets the foundation for a relationship between prospective applicants and the Office of Admissions. |
