MIT client |
Department of Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP) |
date |
September 2003 |
audience |
Undergraduates with an interest in majoring in urban studies and planning, prospective graduate and PhD students, prospective faculty, and donors for various DUSP programs |
goals |
Develop a brochure that can be used to attract undergraduates, graduate students, and PhD students to one of the largest urban studies and planning departments in the US.
|
strategy |
Create the brochure in the form of an area map, a common tool used
by students and professionals in the fields of urban studies and
planning. Juxtapose gritty photographs from field research against
computer-generated images to show the broad range of areas of
specialization. Use a paper stock with a grid pattern, which is a
common backdrop to work done in these fields. |
benefits |
The brochure folds compactly into an envelope for easy mailing yet
unfolds to an oversized poster for display purposes. Once unfolded,
one side focuses on overall department offerings for undergrads, and
the other focuses on graduate and PhD programs.
