project name |
Professor Stephen Hawking on "Gödel and the End of Physics" poster |
MIT client |
The Cambridge-MIT Institute (CMI) |
date |
January 2003 |
audience |
MIT community |
goals |
Attract attendees and build awareness of the monthly lecture series. |
strategy |
Create an exciting look for the poster while keeping the overall design consistent with the previous posters in the monthly series. Based on the title of the lecture, the designer selects an area from a multicolored, lively image used frequently by CMI and incorporates it prominently into the design of the poster. |
benefits |
The client had requests from several students and faculty on how to obtain extra posters. The lecture was a huge success, and the client needed to open an overflow lecture room due to the large number of attendees. |
specifications |
11" x 17" digitally printed poster on 100# white matte cover stock. |
vendor team |
Design: Subbiah Design Printing: Minuteman Press |
PSB role |
Introduced the client to the design vendor, obtained print estimates, and set up communication guidelines so the client and the designer, who was temporarily situated on the West Coast, could communicate seamlessly. Negotiated a dramatic discount and aggressive turn-around time. Recommended digital printing to achieve cost and time savings. |
