MIT client |
Information Systems |
date |
Summer 2000 |
audience |
MIT community, all people interested in MIT, and campus visitors |
goals |
Post the full range of activities and events happening on the MIT campus, including readings, lectures, concerts, exhibits, sport events, meetings, movies, etc. Make information about the events accessible. Make it easy for contributors to post their information. Show the diversity of activities occurring on a regular basis at MIT. |
strategy |
Create a website using a database and software developed by MIT Information Systems that optimizes the posting and retrieval capabilities for the MIT community. Design an interface that is functional as well as lively, playful, and visually engaging. |
benefits |
MIT is displayed for all of its diverse activity, and people have an easy way to find the events. A user-friendly mechanism is in place for many departments to post their events and serve up to a common display. The Events Calendar site has turned into a model for other departments to create their own mini events calendar sites, which feed into the umbrella MIT calendar site. The by-product web script is shared with departments as they work on their websites. |
