project name |
MIT Medical website
http://web.mit.edu/medical/ |
MIT client |
MIT Medical |
date |
October 2003 |
audience |
Current and prospective students and their families, members of the MIT health plans, employees, retirees, MIT Medical clinicians and staff |
goals |
Increase awareness of the caliber of care offered at MIT Medical, increase health plan enrollment, promote healthy behavior, provide a place to access online services such as appointment and referral requests, reduce the cost of print-based publications. |
strategy |
Develop a site that is visually engaging and easy to navigate. Instead of clinical images, use photos that represent the MIT campus and campus life to illustrate that MIT Medical's services encompass the entire MIT community. Use a sidebar on each page to help viewers quickly locate important information. Provide resources for healthy living. |
benefits |
Several features on the home page change on reload, keeping the site fresh and dynamic: the central photo, four health information resources (health@mit, e-Well Tips, Go Ask Alice, and Healthwise), and a link to the welcome message from the medical director that was translated into 15 languages. MIT Medical is realizing significant cost savings by eliminating several print publications and publishing the content online only. |
