project name |
Graduate Program in Science Writing viewbook |
MIT client |
Writing Program, School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences |
completed |
November 2006 |
audience |
Students from undergraduate science, journalism or writing programs, experienced journalists, freelance writers, historians, and independent scholars |
goals |
Continue to attract the best possible candidates to this successful program, which started in 2002. |
strategy |
The designer offered to update the images and color palette, but the client team was hesitant to make any changes to a marketing program that continues to be successful, so the designer incorporated text updates only. By keeping the text relatively generic and by extending the image usage fees, the client only had to budget for printing the updated viewbooks. |
benefits |
Even after several years in use, the viewbook maintains a look and feel that is still relevant to the program for candidates interested in careers as science writers. Together, the viewbook and poster have continued to help increase the number of applicants and the caliber of students applying to the program. |
