First International Conference on Local Innovation Systems (LIS) event materials |
MIT client |
Industrial Performance Center |
completed |
December 2005 |
audience |
Economic development strategists and practitioners from forward-looking economic regions; research, technology transfer, and economic development managers from universities and other public research institutions; corporate leaders seeking insight into how their competitive performance is influenced by the characteristics of the local and regional economies in which they operate |
goals |
Attract conference attendees and raise awareness of the results of the Local Innovations Systems Project, a research partnership launched in 2002 to address the role of innovation in the emergence and transformation of local industries. |
strategy |
Create a logo, identity system, and color palette that could be used across a series of event materials visually capturing the interdisciplinary network of sponsors and researchers involved in LIS projects. Deliverables included a program, research project summaries, and notepad (all contained in a portfolio), name tags, banner, signage, project website, web graphic for conference registration site, and gift items including pens, mugs, and paperweights. |
benefits |
The conference had a sophisticated and coordinated set of materials for an international audience. The materials can be easily updated with a simple color palette change for the next conference. |
specifications |
Combination of digitally printed and offset-printed conference materials plus specialty production methods for the creation of banners, mugs, pens, and paperweights. The portfolios (housing the event program, note pad, data sheets, and summary report) were purchased off the shelf from an online packaging vendor at a reasonable price. |
