Habitat for Humanity Trip

March 7, 2009 (7:30am-4pm)

2A

For Spring 2009, we are looking for 2A students to contribute to a new initiative within the Mechanical Engineering Department to improve the support and mentoring of the 2A tracks. We need people to:

  • write blog posts on their 2A experiences
  • become mentors to underclassmen
  • help with a 2A info session in mid April of 2009

MechE Student Space

To address student concerns about the lack of student space for Mechanical Engineering students, there is an initiative to redesign the current "fish bowl" as well as look at existing spaces. We want to know how you envision what your ideal student space should look like. Please email Alice Yeh at ayeh AT mit DOT edu if interested.

CPW/Explore Major Fair

We would like to increase Course 2 visibility in improve our representation to the current freshmen and pre-frosh at the annual CPW Explore Your Major Fair.

We want your ideas as well as your help with talking to potential students, bringing your projects, and staffing the tables. Please email Kathryn Shroyer at kshroyer AT mit DOT edu.

T-Shirt Sales

T-shirt sales are a way for students to show their pride and commitment to the mechanical engineering discipline. It is also a source of income for PTS. The winning design(s) will be printed on a regular t-shirt and sold to the MIT community. A lot of help is needed to print and purchase the shirts, advertise the sales, and physically sell the shirts.

For Spring 2009, we are currently looking for new designs! If interested in helping the the t-shirt sales, please contact pts-sales AT mit DOT edu.

Tutoring

PTS members and eligibles offers tutoring services to any interested students in course 2 classes.  If you are interested in becoming a tutor, send email to pts-tutor AT mit DOT edu.

Study Breaks and Social Events

The social committee organizes internal and external social events for PTS and the ME department. Upcoming events may include faculty mixers, study breaks, and (inter)departmental IM sports games. If you would like to help plan these events or have unique ideas, please contact pts-social AT mit DOT edu.

Mid-term PTS Social, TBA
End-of-term Dinner, TBA

We are looking for people to help with planning, postering, setting up, and cleaning.

Meetings

The meetings committee works to bring quality programming to our monthly meetings. Speakers may include professors, graduate students, and members of industry who talk about a variety of topics including their work, personal lives, and professional decisions. If you would like make a suggestion for programming at a future meeting or have an idea for how to improve the meeetings, please contact pts-officers AT mit DOT edu.
