2013 MIT Mystery Hunt

Invitation

Teams were sent a letter from Enigma Valley Investment & Loan inviting them to a "new member orientation event" to learn more about their MIT MYSTERY HUNT™ team account.

Kick-off

Kick-off began on Friday, January 18, 2013 at noon in Rockwell Cage. At kick-off, teams learned that Manic Sages mortgaged the coin to Enigma Valley Investment & Loan, so solvers needed to pull a bank heist to retrieve the coin. You can watch kick-off on YouTube or on Ustream, courtesy of several teams.

The Hunt

Puzzles were released at 2pm on Friday.

Winning Team

The winning team, whose name is the complete text of Atlas Shrugged (abbreviated as "PART I: NON-CONTRADICTION; CHAPTER I: THE THEME 'Who is John Galt?'..." with the full team name available by reading the book), found the coin on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 3:18pm. At 75 hours and 18 minutes, the 2013 Hunt holds the record for the longest Mystery Hunt.

Wrap-up

Wrap-up took place on Monday at 4pm in 26-100, with a reception following in the Mezzanine Lounge.

Wrap-up was recorded by Death From Above and is available for viewing online.
