Answer: POCKET MONEY

This is a “right angles” puzzle, where every answer makes exactly one 90-degree turn. In addition, several of the squares must be filled with the numbers 1-8 and “CUE”:

L A N O S O S U T S
O R O L O V E T 6 T
W H I G N E S H I R
N U S H I S L O U I
E R N 5 F O U S E P
C K E D O G P O K A
O A M Y L R E R E M
L S I R D A N I R B
B T D O P M G L R I
A R 3 T O S U E O V
R E A K E T E S S A
B S A R D V A R K L
E * E E R I M T N E
L S N S T T U S K R
A B E R 7 E L A S K
T T A E P O M G G A
T E X T I S S A E L
L T I T E P D R 2 A
E 4 S A G E I S O G
W 8 Y M E S O N D 1

As hinted by 5S (“STRIPES”), we are playing a game of 8-ball and we are stripes, which means we simply need to pocket the 8 to win. As usual, we cannot hit an opponent’s ball first. The shortest path is to play the ball to the northeast, which results in hitting 11 cushions and pocketing the 8 ball in the southwest corner. The letters hit along each cushion, in path order, spell POCKET MONEY.
