Answer: PEARL

At Cranium Command, solvers were presented with a urine sample cup containing 5 lateral flow devices (i.e. pee sticks), numbered 1–5, inclusive.

Solvers should pee into the cup, thus dousing the 5 lateral flow devices. Once wet with urine (or water, if you’re boring), the 5 lateral flow devices reveal the following numbered clue phrases:

  1. Here in Boston, Hoover and Chacoda
  2. Party with linked computers
  3. Favor, fortune, or blind chance
  4. They sometimes are atoned for
  5. Noises from winged grey rats

Each cluephrase clues the following word, each of which is one character fewer than the number of words in the cluephrase. Each clue word becomes a different word when a P is added somewhere (thereby reapplying the puzzle mechanic), and the location of that additional P corresponds to one of the words in the cluephrase.

Number Phrase Word Word with added P Extracted cluephrase word
1 Here in Boston, Hoover and Chacoda SEALS SEPALS BOSTON
2 Party with linked computers LAN PLAN PARTY
3 Favor, fortune, or blind chance LUCK PLUCK FAVOR
4 They sometimes are atoned for SINS SPINS SOMETIMES
5 Noises from winged grey rats COOS COOPS GREY

In order, those indexed words form a new phrase: BOSTON PARTY FAVOR SOMETIMES GREY. Following that original pattern, the new phrase clues a word that is one character fewer than its number of words: EARL. The solution is this new word with an added P: PEARL.
