The road network is shown color coded by direction, facility type (e.g. tunnel, freeway, ramp, or urban streets), and average density, speed or flow of segments (see Figure 3-11). Lane marks are shown in colors to indicate lane change regulations. Dedicated symbols drawn in lane indicate the lane-use privilege (e.g. HOV, ETC, etc.). Information that changes dynamically (e.g. speed, density, or flow) is updated at a fixed frequency (e.g., 60 seconds).
