Print Catalog Milestones
Updates to Part 1 - This Is MIT
Update requests for chapters 1 and 2
are sent out in late February/early March, with changes due in mid-March. Update
requests for chapters 3, 4, and 5 are sent out in late March,
with changes due in early April.
Updates to Part 2 - Schools and Courses
The first cycle of academic program revisions begins in October.
The updates pass from the contact person in the department to the
Registrar's Office, and finally to RPO. Because substantial changes
must be approved by faculty committees, the Registrar's Office
deadlines are in December and January. The proofing process continues
through several stages until June, the final deadline for inclusion
in the print catalog.
Updates to school descriptions and faculty lists are requested by Reference Publications in late March and early April, respectively.
Updates to Part 3 - Interdisciplinary Programs
Undergraduate academic program information is updated in the Registrar's
Office by departmental contacts starting in November. Because
substantial changes must be approved by faculty committees, the
Registrar's Office deadline for inclusion in the print catalog
is late March.
Interdisciplinary graduate program information is updated in the Reference Publications by program contacts starting in November, with updates due in early January.
Interdisciplinary Research and Study section updates are requested in early February and are due later that month.
All information is finalized by the end of
June. Books are printed in July and distributed to the campus in
August.
