Beginning with the 2013 Spring term, non-Institute visiting students will be subject to a registration fee in each term in which they register. Fees per term are as follows:
| Summer | $900 |
| Fall | $1,500 |
| Spring | $1,200 |
In addition, visiting students will be subject to the student life fee in each Fall or Spring term in which they register. The student life fee is set at $144 per term for the 2013-2014 academic year. Payment of the student life fee entitles a visiting student to use MIT’s fitness facilities. The fee is also used to fund student life programming at MIT.
Students whose visiting student appointments do not correspond directly with the beginning of MIT’s terms will still be charged the entire fee for that particular term. However, if a student leaves MIT before the end of the term, their registration fee may be pro-rated based on the Registration Fee Pro-ration Tables. A visiting student’s faculty host or academic administrator should notify the Registrar’s Office via e-mail that a student’s appointment is coming to an end and the registration fee will be adjusted.
