Repeating a Subject

If a student takes the same subject more than once, all grades appear on the student's record and all grades are used in computing the term and cumulative GPAs. Each time, the GPAs are calculated based on the normal number of units for the subject.

The student will receive unit credit for the subject only once, except in special cases in which subjects are specifically designated as repeatable for credit. Such subjects are noted in the MIT Course Catalog and in the online subject listing.
