Graduate students who are enrolled in a research degree program and who are taking only thesis or pre-thesis research subjects during the summer will have their registration approved by their departments. All other students should contact their departments to discuss subject selection.
Registration must be submitted by the end of the first week of the summer session (Friday, June 14). Registration submitted after this deadline is subject to a $50 late fee.
Once the department has approved the registration selections, all subsequent changes to the student's program require Add/Drop/Change forms approved by the advisor.
The last day of classes, Friday, August 16, is the deadline for adding and dropping subjects.
Subjects are listed in the Summer Session Catalog. Registered MIT students can also take units-arranged subjects such as UROP, special studies or research by prior arrangement with a faculty member. Check the UROP guidelines on participation in summer UROP.
There is no cross-registration with other schools during the summer. To obtain credit for work done elsewhere during the summer follow instructions for transfer credit.
