How to Cross-register

  1. Complete the Wellesley online cross-registration form.

  2. Obtain the signature of the instructor.

  3. Submit the signed form to the MIT Student Services Center, Room 11-120, 77 Massachusetts Avenue.

You are not required to cross-register or be at MIT on MIT’s Registration Day.

The Student Services Center is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Wednesday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Forms should be delivered in person. Please do not put your form in the mail or give it to a classmate to deliver.

  4. Obtain an MIT ID Card from the MIT Card Office in the basement of the Stratton Student Center, W20-021. You will need to present a valid picture ID (a passport or US Government issued ID, such as a driver's license) when requesting an MIT Card. Driver's licenses from foreign countries, college/university IDs from other institutions, credit/bank cards, or insurance cards are not accepted.

After submitting your cross-registration form at the Student Services Center, you must wait until the next business day to obtain your MIT ID Card.

  5. Obtain an MIT email (Athena) account and install MIT web certificates on your browser. These will enable you to access your personal MIT records on WebSIS and participate in MIT’s subject evaluation process.

    Follow these steps:

Once you obtain your certificates please go to WebSIS and provide your emergency contact information.

Dropping an MIT Subject

Grading

Subjects at MIT are either letter-graded (A/B/C/D/F) or graded P/D/F (Pass/D/F). You may choose to have a letter grade converted according to Wellesley's credit/non-credit system. Check with the Wellesley Registrar for the deadline to elect an MIT subject credit/non.

When reporting grades, plus and minus modifiers are used at MIT for internal purposes only. They do not appear on MIT transcripts and are not used in the calculation of student's grade point averages. As they form no part of the MIT grading system for external purposes, plus and minus grade modifiers are not reported to the Wellesley Registrar's Office.

If you have any questions about cross-registration at MIT, please contact the MIT Registrar’s Office.
