Your eligibility for a second SB and/or a double major depends upon your year of entry, combined with your anticipated date of graduation. (The second SB program is available to students who entered MIT during the 2007-08 academic year or earlier; the double major is available to students who will graduate in June 2010 or later. See chart of application deadlines and eligibility requirements for details.) In addition, you must be currently registered as an undergraduate student and have a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or higher. Use the following links to review specific requirements for each program:

The transition plan for implementing double majors has been crafted to benefit as many students as possible and to minimize any adverse impact on students who were enrolled at the time the new program was adopted.

If you have already successfully petitioned to pursue two SBs, you may continue your second SB program. You are also eligible to switch to a double major if you apply by the deadline. See the summary of options for students in the second SB program and application deadlines for details.

If you entered MIT during the 2007-08 academic year or earlier and will graduate in June 2010 or later, you are eligible to pursue either two SBs or a double major, provided you meet the stated requirements and file your petition or application by the deadline. (See the summary of application deadlines.)

If you begin your studies during the 2008-09 academic year or later, you are eligible to pursue a double major within a single degree, provided you meet the stated requirements and file your application by the deadline. (See the application process for double majors.)
