My primary concern about the housing system changes is finding adequate support for freshmen from upperclassmen. One of the greatest benefits of joining Kappa Sigma as a freshman was the tremendous help I received from upperclassmen in my studies. There was a genuine concern with my older Kappa Sig classmates that each new freshman pledge succeeded academically. Given that 10 to 15% of all freshmen fail first-year physics at MIT demonstrates the difficulties faced by new students. A freshman dorm would be a disaster, since there would not be any older students around to help tutor younger ones. This is my greatest concern.
