Function

• Function (the word) is defined as:

  • the behavior of the system
  • the activities, operations, and transformations that cause, create, or contribute to performance
  • the actions for which a thing exists or is employed

• Function is defined by the architect

• Function is stated in solution neutral form

• Function is what the system eventually does, the behavior which emerges

• Function can be defined before from goals, or can be inferred from form
