Educational Programs and Services
We work with two distinct populations: Undergraduate and Graduate students who live on campus. We serve to guide and support student learning, growth and development in our residence hall communities.
In addition to our core values (leadership, scholarship and citizenship), we believe a value in working with the needs of the two populations. Our departmental priorities and values for graduate students are leadership, scholarship, citizenship and balance. Our departmental priorities and values for undergraduate students are leadership, scholarship, citizenship and wellness.
We support and develop programs and activities for these populations’ priorities.
* Programs on stress management and mid-terms and finals (including massages)
* Forums on sexual assault during Sexual Assault Awareness month
* Providing a baby-sitting service so that Graduate students can attend house events
* Sponsoring leadership lunches and retreats to government officers
We bring living and learning together by bringing faculty and students together in the residential halls
Residential Scholars program
The program is based in Simmons Hall and is populated mostly by faculty members on sabbatical leave from other institutions, artists, industry professionals visiting MIT and a few current MIT faculty members.
House Fellows program
The House Fellows program builds stronger relationships between MIT faculty and students. Each year MIT Faculty are invited to connected with an undergraduate or graduate hall for social and educational programs. The program provides the opportunity for MIT students to socialize with MIT Faculty outside of the classroom, creating a unique learning experience.
Graduate Resident Tutors program
A Graduate Resident Tutor (GRT) serves as live-in mentor to the undergraduate community and an acting member of MIT's House Teams. The purpose of a House Team is to develop and support the residential community, and the GRT plays a primary role. Typically a GRT is assigned to a particular area within a residence, such as a floor or entry and provides study breaks, community building, or issues-oriented programs. GRTs receive a $1,460.00 stipend, a free room for the duration of their service, and enrollment in the Preferred Dining Program. Visit application site

Event Planning
Perhaps the most valuable resource available to event planners is the Event Planning Guide. The Guidebook introduces and guides event planners through the process by helping to define the event, suggesting where to begin, and providing helpful hints for making it successful. It is important to ensure that events are registered with the proper departments.
