| Alumni/ae activities are a special joy for me. John Rudy, our MIT Class of 1967 agent, was the key to getting me involved when we were both working together at Raytheon. At our 25th Class Reunion back in 1992, several of us planned the first Reunion Challenge Games. It has since become a fixture of every Reunion, and a lot of fun to organize each June. And the celebration for the 50th Smoot Anniversary is another "only-at-MIT" event that has been a joy to organize. Another major alumni activity is the MIT Club Of Boston. In 2007, we created the first Annual Science Trivia Challenge, which has proved to be quite a hit every April. Also for a decade, I wrote diliegently as Secretary for my 1969 MBA class at the Harvard Business School, succeeding Joe Levangie, another MIT classmate. I was chair for a terrific 35th Reunion back in October, 2004, and my MIT fraternity brother, Dave Dewan, was a chair for for even better 40th. The picture shows Mike Phillips '89 and me receiving an award for the Theta Chi 100th Anniversay weekend on behalf of our fraternity. This was perhaps the most enjoyable weekend that my fraternity brothers and I have spent at MIT. A few years ago, I was ar Vice President of the board of the MIT Alumni/ae Association. Currently, I am active in the Friends of DAPER group, whose goal is to increase alumni involvement in MIT athletics. A number of us plan regular biannual MIT Basketball Reunions every other February. Along with 2,500 other alums around the globe, I also volunteer for the Educational Council, interviewing high school seniors interested in MIT. It is a privilege to meet such fantastic young people, and also to be a host family in MIT's Host to International Students Program. |
