Public Transportation

"The T"

The MBTA, Boston's public transportation system, is called "The T." This system operates subway lines, bus lines, and other public tranportation systems around Boston and Cambridge area.

The closest subway station to MIT is Kendall MIT on the Red Line. You can find the subway schedules, maps and fares at the MBTA's website.

The Route 1 buses stop at 77 Massachusetts Avenue, which is between MIT main campus and west campus. This route goes across the Charles River. The route map and schedule can be found at MBTA's site.

Restaurants

Lunchtime

The Stata Center (Location of STAR Plenary events) has a cafeteria. In addition, there are lot's of small lunch places along Main Street in Walking distance (Italian, Mexican, etc.)

The Stratton Student Center located on the Quad, offers a decent selection of reasonably priced meals from $5 to $7.

The second floor has 3 kiosks: Indian, Middle Eastern and Japanese. The first floor has a a pizza/sandwich shop, the famed Anna's Tacqueria and grab-n-go food at LaVerde's grocery store.
