Spark and Splash are two one day educational outreach programs run by the MIT Educational Studies Program. For both programs, thousands of students in grades 7 through 12 are welcomed onto campus to take part in any of approximately 400 short courses covering almost any topic imaginable.

As part of these programs the MIT Rocket Team will be holding classes on the rocketry fundamentals, and composite materials. The team's main goal in holding these classes is to get high school aged students interested in the science, and engineering associated with small scale rocketry. Students who take our course will first go through a presentation on the basics of rocketry, and specifically how composites have become a common material in current and next generation rockets. The students will then be given a chance to get hands on experience working with composite materials while constructing a simple test sample.
