The chemistry DNS system is down, how do I access anything?

For zippy, cruella, and the group server, in the short term, just use their IP addresses. Using Reciprocal when DNS is down requires changing your host file. For long term outages or to connect to reciprocal, do the following:
open c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts in notepad/wordpad and add the following lines:

18.60.7.160 reciprocal.lms.mit.edu
18.60.2.24 cruella.lms.mit.edu
18.60.2.20 zippy.lms.mit.edu
18.60.3.44 sarahd2.lms.mit.edu

The only downside to this is that if the ip address of one or more of the computers changes, you won't access it until the entries are removed or updated on your computer. So, if you do this don't forget about it.
