Exporting Slides

1. Make your slides in the presentation part of OpenOffice, called Impress. You can reach this by opening OpenOffice -> File (menu) -> New -> Presentation.

2. Select File (menu) -> Export as PDF. (Diagram)

3. Name your exported PDF and save it. You're finished!

Making Scatterplots

Open a spreadsheet document, either an existing one or make a new one by going to File (menu) -> New -> Spreadsheet. Input your data in two columns: the first for the independent data, the second for the dependent data. Then select all of the data you want in your chart. While it is selected, go to Insert (menu) -> Chart...

You will get a screen that looks like the following, and you should make sure that the "Chart results in worksheet" option is set to - new sheet -. Then click "Next >>"

On the next window you need to select "XY Chart". The rest of this process will be easier if you click the "Show text elements in preview" option in the lower left hand corner of the window. Click "Next >>".

Fill in the Chart title, X and Y axis titles, etc. in the next window. Then click "Create".

Now click/right-click on the figure and adjust the various properties to make your figure look pretty and, most importantly CLEARLY READABLE.

Finally, go to File (menu) -> Export as PDF on the sheet with your figure to export the chart (Diagram). Finally, you can add the sheet with \includegraphics{file.pdf}.
