RSI Paper Reading     [return to RSI home page]

This year at RSI, the paper reading process will proceed as follows:

  1. When a student is ready for a reader, the student performs the following command on Athena in order to have a PDF of their paper publicly available at http://web.mit.edu/username/www/main.pdf
  2. After the PDF is successfully made, the student contacts his or her tutor, asking for readers.
  3. The tutor finds and contacts a reader from the list of readers.
  4. If the reader is local (MIT EC area), the reader obtains a hard copy of the paper, marks up the paper, and fills out a hard copy of the comment summary form. (Hard copies of the comment summary form are available at the RSI Office (middle section of the 1st Floor of West Parallel). There is also a printable PDF version of the comment summary form.) Then the reader returns both the marked-up paper and the comment summary form to the tutor.
  5. If the reader is not local, the reader reads the paper offline, e-mails comments on the paper to the tutor, and fills out the online comment summary form.
  6. The tutor reviews the readers' comments.
  7. The tutor or reader passes on comments to the student.
