Software Engineer Communication Survey

SOFTWARE ENGINEERING COMMUNICATION SURVEY

THE SURVEY DEADLINE HAS PASSED You may still take the survey, but you will not be entered into the prize drawing.

PURPOSE The purpose of this survey is to identify and prioritize the communication skills needed by recent graduates entering software engineering. This information will be disseminated to software engineering educators so it can inform software engineering curricula. By participating in this survey, you will have the opportunity to influence the communication training received by future software engineers. This survey is intended to be taken by software engineers and those who work closely with software engineers (managers, user-interface designers, etc.).

SURVEY INFORMATION The survey takes about 20 minutes. The survey is voluntary, all questions are optional, and you may stop taking the survey at any time. You may leave and re-enter the survey from the same computer at any time. Your responses to each page are saved when you click the NEXT>> button at the bottom of the page. Saved responses will be visible if you leave and re-enter the survey. If the saved responses are not visible, please do not re-take the survey. If you share a computer, the other users of your computer may be able to see and modify your responses; in this case, e-mail SEcomm@mit.edu to request your own private survey link. We cannot ensure the security of your computer or your Internet connection, but once we receive your responses, we will keep your individual responses confidential: survey results will be reported only in aggregate. The study is being conducted by Susan Ruff from Writing Across the Curriculum at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) and by Michael Carter from the Campus Writing and Speaking Program at North Carolina State University. If you have any questions or concerns about this research, please contact Susan Ruff at 617-253-7948, Address: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 77 Massachusetts Avenue Room 2-374, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02139-4307.
