Stringer and Ruggles, Nov 7, 2018

noon-1, Killian Hall, MIT. Free, all welcome

Pianist and singer-songwriter Molly Ruggles joins forces with vocalist Kate Stringer in a wide-ranging program of original songs, cabaret classics, and rock tunes with a theatrical twist.

Vocalist Kate Stringer is a veteran singing actress who grew up in the musical theatre and jazz traditions but whose credits span genres and continents. Favorite past performances include a program of Edith Piaf standards sung in honor of chef Jacques Pépin. Keenly interested in new music, she has participated in recording projects and world premieres of works by Boston-area composers, most recently originating the role of Leslie in Molly Ruggles’ musical The Mismatched Pair.

Molly Ruggles played piano and conducted orchestras for Opryland USA in Nashville. She also led a jazz trio at the Arboretum in Providence. She's worked with singers Henrietta Robinson, Sayida Rivers Farmer, and Will McMillan, and is thrilled to be collaborating with Stringer. Ruggles also appears frequently at singer songwriter venues throughout the Boston area. mollyruggles.com
