About Us

The "Russian Connection" is a club that provides members of the MIT community with an opportunity to meet and interact with their colleagues who share an interest in the language, history and cultures of Russia as well as other countries of the former Soviet Union. The aim is to provide a forum for discussion of Russia-related topics as well as to facilitate access to aspects of Russian culture. We welcome native Russian speakers, students studying the Russian language and students with an interest in Russian-speaking countries. Our community consists of graduate and undergraduate students, postdocs and staff members with a diverse set of backgrounds.

We organize a wide range of activities ranging from exciting social events to educational seminars promoting the culture and traditions of Russian speaking countries and the countries of the former Soviet Union. Through movie and guitar nights, picnics, parties, camping trips and other gatherings, our desire is to enjoy good company, share Russian traditions and have a great time. In addition, we assist individuals seeking to find a career in Russia by participating in the European Career Fair and inviting Russian based companies to MIT.

Our History

MIT Russian Connection / Russian Club @ MIT was formed in 2008 by a group of motivated Russian graduate and undergraduate students who felt that it was time to unite the Russian-speaking community of MIT with social, cultural, and educational events. Learn more about our history year by year.
