I've been looking at www.thefanlistings.org. (I'm sure you've seen fanlistings at websites now--- they're reallly popular. . . You sign up at a certain designated website, put up a little icon on your website, and proclaim to everyone I'm a Harry Potter Fan, or I'm a Draco Malfoy fan. I guess it's to show your support for things, especially if you think they have a bad rap, like Slytherin fans who really think that the people in Slytherin aren't as bad as they're made out to be. . . But still. . . It's weird how certain web trends get started. . .)
Anyway, as far as Harry Potter ones, there are so many from Mr. Ollivander, the wand-maker, to Pig the Owl, to of course, Harry Potter himself. I like the Oliver Wood one: called "He's a Keeper!" ^_~. It's totally his voice. He's sort of cute, but I swear, no one would notice if it weren't for his voice.
One strange thing is that there is no Cho Chang fanlisting. I honestly don't know of a single person who wants Harry to get together with Cho Chang, even though she's so sweet and pretty and perfect. (Keep in mind while reading this that I haven't read book No. 5 yet, so perhaps things will change and maybe people's opinions too). Perhaps I should support her because she's the only Chinese witch mentioned in the story, and I guess, what's not to like her besides that she's too perfect? Especially at school, there's a big push for Hermione, because she's the smart one, and us MIT nerds want Harry to have a girl with brains.
Except I like Ginny. Harry's mother has red hair, doesn't she? (No Oedipal intentions, but Harry looks/acts
exactly like his dad). Don't like Ginny because she's too much of a fangirl? She's a fangirl only in the sense that she can't believe that she knows the great Harry Potter, that her Harry Potter is her brother's best friend, and that she loves him, but is sure that he's to great and wonderful and important to ever love her back. But in that sense, I'd sort of like her dream to come true.
It's kind of weird to that I (and other people too, I suppose) get all involved in these people's lives---- when they're not even real. But they're real to us because we've read their life stories, we've seen them heartbroken, and happy, and silly. And we care about how they'll end up.
