backpost!

My semester just ended with my last exam on Thursday, and I'm already in Mountain View, California, ready to start my internship on Monday.

I had a good end of the semester. I got to have lunch with Matt during the week. Mindy and I went out on Thursday night to Harvard Square to eat and window shop. It was really lovely to spend time with her, since she's graduating, and I won't get to in a long while =/. I got to see Janet for a bit over ice cream on Friday.

In comparison, my day in Mountain View has been very quiet. There won't be anyone from MIT until next week. But I've been enjoying moving in to my very large studio apartment, decorating, and just sitting and reveling in how clean it is now ^_^. I had dinner at a restaurant I grew to love last year--- though their spiciest dish now tastes really mild to me.

My summer plans include finishing the Happy Berry purse ^_^ (you read my mind, Bunnybeth), sewing more stuffed animals, painting, and maybe violin lessons. And many more trips to San Francisco.

pictures!

Lindy(right) and me(left) at the Anime convention.

LaVerde's now sells these snacks called "Every Burger" (Eburi Baaga).

They look so much like tiny burgers: complete with little faux sesame seeds on the top. Even Phil is fooled.

happy quote of the day:

Victoria: Red Bull tastes like liquid gummy bears =)

each day is filled with lots of little moments: happy, suprising, amusing. I haven't had time to write lately and I am afraid that I will forget these moments if I don't soon ^_^

For my Japanese interview test, I wore my Domo-kun shirt, because I was told it was good luck. I wore it with my bright red sneakers, and outside the interview room, a few people asked me about the shirt.

When I went inside, Nagatomi-sensei exclaimed, "Domo-kun desu nee!" and excitedly showed me her desktop wallpaper, which had a very large Domo-kun in the corner. Apparently she <3's Domo-kun too. ^_^

There was something lovely about that Friday. The weather was perfect, and the grass was so green. We played frisbee, which I never do or like particularly to do, but it was so fitting to the mood and the weather. I had a lot of fun, and managed to catch most everything that was thrown to me.

Then there was the Japanese party, where all of the Japanese classes gathered together for the first time that I remember, and spoke in Japanese over sushi.

Other snippets from the past couple weeks

A few Fridays ago, Matt and I went out to Brown Sugar Cafe, and enjoyed noodles, and duck curry. It's a lovely lovely place--- with tropical fish tanks and displays of butterflies on the walls. I had a shirley temple, which made me happy. I haven't had a shirley temple in over 10 years.

Phil and I went to Blue Fin restaurant, and I tried, yet again the broiled mackerel. Every time I go and get it it tastes different. I'm still chasing the taste of the very first time I tried it.

Victoria and I discovered Charles Street on our shopping/Phantom outing. It's such a cute place! Lots of little shops, streets that go upwards into hills. . . It was just such a beautiful day to take a walk. An older gentleman crossed our path and took off his hat to us. We were both affected by the grace and manner of his address and smiled that he would do so cute a thing--- perhaps it was that we were both dressed up. Phantom of the Opera was scary and beautiful, kind of like I expected.

And how could I forget! I went clubbing for the first time, with Janet, Vivian, Tracy, and Yuri. They were a really fun group to go dancing with. We went to a hip-hop type club, so I still want to go again to a more techno-type club at some point.

Anime Convention

I did end up finishing my Mikako costume, even if at 7 o' clock the morning of the convention ^^;;. The dress itself I am quite proud of, but the trim was very hastily and messily done, and looks a bit crooked. The convention was a lot of fun. Max and I walked over late in the morning and missed the music video competition, but we heard Yoko Ishida give a little concert. And the dealers room! Oh, so much stuff I wanted to buy. I'd like to consider myself non-consumeristic,
but when it comes to cute items. . . I have little self-restraint.

Yay for good friends and good food and sunny days.
