Hatsuyuki, first snow of the year. Listening to Death Cab for Cutie, with my lantern and flower lights on, as big flakes of white drift down outside my window.

And it makes me all warm inside.

After a terrible, terrible last week in which I had every sort of possible Japanese test/quiz possible, a 6.013 quiz, a 6.837 quiz, and 6UAT presentation, and in which my fish got sick and died in the course of 24 hours, I've been having a nice, do-nothing sort of weekend.

I had a short memorial service for Strawberry. My room isn't the same without him. From checking his symptoms, it seems like he had ammonia poisoning? =/ I hope he had a happy little fish life.

Last night Jacque and Maithilee invited me to eat pie and watch Maithilee's favorite Indian movie. It was very colorful and musical.

Janet and I went to the Head of the Charles near Harvard, to see boats and listen to the All-American Rejects. They were wonderful to hear live! They sang Swing Swing, and My Paper Heart, among others. They were so hot. *Ahem* I mean. . .

Now to clean my room.

oh! i forgot to post my 6.837 assignment pictures ^_^

here they are:

apple
pear
uncolored pear
uncolored apple

Yay. Because I like fruit ^_^.

I have been going through a manga reading frenzy these days. I've tried out "Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai", "B.O.D.Y", "Beauty Pop", and "Kagen No Tsuki". They're all very different, very cute, and in some cases very funny. I am always amazed at the variety of characters and the imagination that goes into making a plotline or premise that no one ever has before, or taking an ordinary plot line and making it interesting. Well written manga are such gems ^_^. Though the hardest test for them I think is how they can uphold my initial level of interest through many many volumes.

I've also found a place that scanlates "Gokinjo Monogatari". What with my Gokinjo Monogatari obsession, dressing up like Mikako, I've never read more than 1 volume of it, and the second one at that. I <3 Yazawa Ai's drawings and Mikako's clothes, but it's just so time consuming to read it in the Japanese! I feel like Yazawa's word choice is much different than my usual vocabulary too. But never mind! I'm so happy to read the story from the very beginning. Mikako is super cute. And she cheers herself by dressing up in bright colors and happy clothes ^_^. Something that I do as well.

I'm having dinner with the Archbishop of Boston, soon, who is visiting MIT ^_^, so I'll be off.

Posted while in a happier mood ^_^

Friday night, Maithilee and I went to Milan, the annual autumn Indian Garba held in the Z-Center. There were lots of pretty Indian dresses and people dancing in a large circle. Later in the evening, there was bhangra, which was fun, but I totally forgot all of the moves I learned earlier in the year =/. Maithilee lent me a pretty dress, and afterwards I hung out with her and Jacque for a bit which was nice ^_^.

Urban Outfitters is officially my favorite place to shop now ^_^. I love all of their furnishings, I love how they decorate their store, and I love the whimsy of the clothes there, and the price of things on sale ^_^. I'm envying some of their knitted fingerless gloves with matching legwarmers, but they're too expensive =P

Phil and I have been having a bit of a scheduling mismatch this weekend--- he goes to bed early, hehe. And it's made me realize how nice it's been to have him up at weird hours to call when I'm taking a break from studying into the wee hours of morning.

I just changed Strawberry's water. Now he is looking particularly sparkly ^_^.

I made an apple and a pear with the curves and generalized cylinder generator we wrote in 6.837. Maybe I'll post pictures up? I'm mainly proud of their curvy stems.

It was a long weekend. On Saturday, Victoria, Vivian and I went to Harvard Square. I got a comfy new chair from Urban Outfitters for my room, along with various clothes. They helped me carry the chair back in the rain. My room is newly arranged to accommodate the chair.

I also got to meet up with Rosalyn--- a friend of the family's that is one of the main reasons why I'm here ^_^. She encouraged me to apply and was always inspirational to me in my studies. She's just starting Harvard Dental school this fall. We ate at Penang and shopped a bit.

The rest of the weekend was just studying. I was glad for the chance to study, but it doesn't seem to matter how much extra time I get--- it's never enough =/

Maybe it's the grey skies that have put a damper on my spirits...

My fish keeps me company while I'm up studying late at night. Strawberry amuses me by going up to the surface of the water and blowing a mess of little tiny bubbles. They stay there until I change his water. Phil says this is a mating ritual? My fish must have a crush on someone.

An amusing thought that occurred to me not 5 minutes ago--- I should apply to work at Wizet ^_^. I saw their website, and they're looking for programmers. Though the website is mainly in Korean. . . Are they only Korea-based? There are so many ways the Maple Story could be improved, from a programming point of view and from a game point of view. And it fits my criteria of a cutesy company ^_^. Can't get much cuter than smiling mushrooms and furry junior yeti.
