if my life had a sound track, today would be a happy techno day.
last night's movie, "The Science of Sleep" and talk by Michel Gondry was amazing. The filming of the movie was so so so beautiful, and i liked his use of old stop motion animation techniques. There were also lots of crafts and plushies, including a plushie phone and typewriter.
The movie was inspired by Michel Gondry's own dreams, so in commemoration, here are some of my recent interesting dream snippets.
1. I dreamed I was hosting a farewell party and pouring orange juice for guests. One guest, a cutesy 10 year old asian girl, pulled a strainer out of her pocket and placed it over her cup as I poured her orange juice. "I don't like orange juice pulp, so I always carry this strainer with me," the girl informed me. Wow! This ten year old really knows what she wants and knows how to get it. I think she's an interesting character and I hope she returns (maybe I will write a book about her, if so).
2. I dreamed I was paralyzed--- I couldn't move my arms or legs. Near the end of the dream, I also had trouble breathing. I awoke gasping for air, nearly suffocated by my covers. I wonder if I was close to death.
3. I dreamed I was married to a muppet. Not any of the Jim Henson characters, just one of the same species--- a small cloth puppet person. He was not as likeable as any of the Jim Henson sort either--- he was very business like and boring. He was very short, always wore a suit and had squarish glasses. I was unhappy in the marriage. I called my mother to say, "I only married him because he was a muppet. But then I realized that really, I hate him." She said, "That's too bad, Amy. There's nothing you can do now. You'll just have to live with your mistake." I think someone has fear of commitment issues.
