Coming back from Downtown Crossing Saturday, I saw two tall, lean, identical red-headed figures. My first response was, "Fred and George!" But as they are fictional, I don't think that it was them. Or the actors, as they live in England. What is the appropriate response to seeing a favourite actor in real life anyway? I think that whatever I did, my scary-fangirlish-ness would show.

On that topic, here are a list of my current obsessions:
- rice cooked to perfection. Rice is so simple, but rice cooked well adds so much to a meal. And I like all varieties of rice.
- soft fabrics
- unusual skirts
- yetis, and other things that are so ugly that they're cute

I think of myself as a really happy person, but I've been finding myself really unhappy lately. I must stop. I stress over things because I want to do well in them, but why do I want to do well? I have goals for my life, but in the end, I want most to be happy with myself. So I should start on that... now.

So, Victoria and I threw a party today, an Anti-Valentine's Day party. We're not really bitter--- we just like pretending to be because it's fun. Actually we both even love Valentine's day (see previous post).

Tracy, Victoria, and I want to throw a party every month. We have lots of ideas. We might not have time to throw all of these but here are some of our themes--- we came up with them today and they made us feel clever: Pirates & Ninjas, Tea Party (bring a doll or stuffed animal), Hello Kitty, PJ Party (think Jr High slumber party).

Something I redsicovered about myself (I'm sure I must have known this before): I can feel totally blah, and then the right type of background music can make me feel better. Music has such a profound affect on my mood.

It's the end of the first week of classes. My schedule looks like:

6.011 Communication & Signal Processing
6.041 Probability
6.839 Advanced Computer Graphics
Visualizing Cultures
Undergraduate Thesis/Advanced Project

I spent IAP in my parent's new house in Mississippi (only about 5 minutes away from our old one). I love it--- I felt very at home there.

Valentine's day is Tuesday! Hehe. I love Valentine's day. I've always loved Valentine's day. As a kid, I made my own Valentines, decorated a shoebox very ornately, and looked forward to having it stuffed with colorful paper and candy from classmates. Even if they didn't really mean it when they wrote, "You're swell!"

It's my first Valentine's day with a boyfriend, but I won't get to spend it as such-- he's away. I still love gushy lines and hearts and frills as a grade school kid--- I love them, but I don't take them seriously. If one wanted to show me actual affection, one would have to try harder. For instance, I would gag to get roses or chocolates from a boyfriend. They're so typical!
