as my first iTunes purchase ever, i bought "wake up" by the ditty bops, and it is now my alarm song. i've read that alarm clocks can be damaging to your psyche--- by waking you up so violently and abruptly. i am not sure if that is true, but rising this morning to the song's happy tune got my day off to the right start.

another soul calming thing for me is a nice warm shower. it's like, all my pains and griefs rub off with the suds of soap and vanish down the drain. i come out of showers feeling so ridiculously happy.

wearing a hoodie shrug that sparkled like crazy, i went clubbing for victoria's early birthday. it was so so so wonderful dancing my heart out to techno at avalon. techno is definitely my dancing music of choice. i want to do it again!

i have a test in signal processing on tuesday. i realized how different college is from highschool when the professor talked about wiener filters for noise elimination in signal processing and none of the class laughed or so much as snickered.

looking out at the boston skyline at 12:57, i think to myself, i am a night wanderer. lately, i don't know where it is that i want to be at the end of my life; i don't know where i'm going. everything i was once so sure of, i am no longer so sure of. it was a map that i had always believed in, but now i wonder, how do i know these directions will get me where i want to be? does a place like that actually exist anywhere outside my idealistic mind?

i want so badly to stop questioning and go along with my life as it's always been, believing things will work out somehow. i know it will make me happy and peaceful; it always has. but tonight my soul will not be peaceful. tonight, it feels like wandering.

Sometimes, you meet with people, and it clicks, you know? I won't say that I like meeting people in general--- sometimes meeting people feels forced and awkward, but I do like meeting people when I feel the connection. Lately, I've been meeting people that fall into that category. For CPW, I hosted a girl from Alabama who was trying to decide between here and Harvard. I had to clean my room like crazy to make it hospitable. Anyone who knows me knows how messy my room can get. But the first thing she said to me was "Wow, I really like your room." So, score. She was nice to talk to. We had a lot in common-- anime for one, hehe.

I also went to a birthday party with Tracey for one of her friends at Harvard. We got a tour of one of the dorms, and it was so pretty, hehe. I talked to a girl at the party and had a shared interest for sewing clothes. She invited me to sew with her sometime at the facilities at Harvard (that are used for costuming plays). Tracey's friend was also really interesting.

I recently went to dinner at Mary Chung's with Faye and two of her friends, and had the most delicious broccoli ever, hehe.

if my life had a sound track, today would be a happy techno day.

last night's movie, "The Science of Sleep" and talk by Michel Gondry was amazing. The filming of the movie was so so so beautiful, and i liked his use of old stop motion animation techniques. There were also lots of crafts and plushies, including a plushie phone and typewriter.

The movie was inspired by Michel Gondry's own dreams, so in commemoration, here are some of my recent interesting dream snippets.

1. I dreamed I was hosting a farewell party and pouring orange juice for guests. One guest, a cutesy 10 year old asian girl, pulled a strainer out of her pocket and placed it over her cup as I poured her orange juice. "I don't like orange juice pulp, so I always carry this strainer with me," the girl informed me. Wow! This ten year old really knows what she wants and knows how to get it. I think she's an interesting character and I hope she returns (maybe I will write a book about her, if so).

2. I dreamed I was paralyzed--- I couldn't move my arms or legs. Near the end of the dream, I also had trouble breathing. I awoke gasping for air, nearly suffocated by my covers. I wonder if I was close to death.

3. I dreamed I was married to a muppet. Not any of the Jim Henson characters, just one of the same species--- a small cloth puppet person. He was not as likeable as any of the Jim Henson sort either--- he was very business like and boring. He was very short, always wore a suit and had squarish glasses. I was unhappy in the marriage. I called my mother to say, "I only married him because he was a muppet. But then I realized that really, I hate him." She said, "That's too bad, Amy. There's nothing you can do now. You'll just have to live with your mistake." I think someone has fear of commitment issues.

I spent half of my spring break at home, and half of my spring break at Phil's. While I was at home, my mom took her afternoons off work so we ate lunch together every day. I got to try fried green tomatoes for the first time (apparently a Southern delicacy). They were sour, greasy and quite tasty.

Phil planned cute dates for us while I was in Cincinnati. We spent the first night eating peeps, and playing Mario Kart. We spent one afternoon at the Newport Aquarium and one afternoon at the Cincinnati Zoo. There was also a shopping and ice cream date.

I got back to MIT yesterday with a horribly dirty messy dorm room and loads of work waiting for me.

Coming up this week:

Today: a sneak preview of Michael Condry's new film, "The Science of Sleep". And he'll be there for a Q & A session. I loved "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" so I'm really looking forward to this.

Thursday: my prefrosh is coming. Though I have tons of work, I decided to host a prefrosh. As a senior, I want to help someone decide to come to this place I love so much, if it ends up being right for them.

Friday: MIT's Hanami party. And I will be performing a fan dance with some girls from the Japanese student association. I hope I can memorize the dance by then!

Did you know that having birds on you tickles...a lot? Hehe, we fed birds at the Newport Aquarium.

Phil driving in his Domo Kun shirt.

The sting ray Sweet Pea at the Aquarium had a birthday.

Lots of flamingos at the zoo.

oh, and my album is updated.
