Justin
A friend of mine from church died in a car crash sometime yesterday. I met him in February. Our conversation started b/c we had both gone to school in Boston-- me for engineering, him for culinary arts. He was just a year older than me. He was already an award-winning chef. Monica (another friend from church) and I had gone to the restaurant where he worked a couple weeks ago. He was so surprised to see us, and told us that we made his day. We chatted, sitting at the sushi bar, as he sliced fish, and rolled rice and seaweed. We ordered tons of food, and he gave us even more, his treat. We planned to do it again soon.
Justin was so smiley and sincere and happy. I don't know of anyone at church (or even anyone's dog) who didn't immediately like him.
Justin, I'll miss you.
