old news

Kenton's dad is an architect and designed a vacation house in Arizona. Kenton invited me to go see it on my long weekend. It was impressively artistic (but I'm not going to post pictures of someone else's house on my blog, so you'll just have to believe me.) We had a wonderful dinner at a restaurant called "The Painted Horse", treat of Kenton's dad and stepmom. I tried foie gras for the first time (soo deliciously fatty!)

We spent Earth Day at the Grand Canyon. It's so expansive that the canyons have canyons (which have canyons). Like every national park I've been to before, it would be nice to go again and explore some more. (Before you ask, I still got work done that weekend, on the plane and on a much-softer-than-my-dorm-room-bed bed.) At night in an empty unlit parking lot in the park, I saw more stars in the night sky than I had ever seen before. It was amazing.

Arizona is a very sunny place for someone used to dorm room lighting (thus the squint).

I didn't blog at all the fall semester, and there are a lot of things to catch up on (interesting places visited, neat projects i worked on.) So Mondays from now until I'm caught up are back tracking days =P

Last semester I took a media lab class called Tangible User Interfaces (vs. GUI interfaces.) The point of the class was to rethink the way we interact with everyday objects. For the final project concept, my group wanted to attach tails to people and objects as a way of conveying their "mood". Implementing a person-sized tailed proved difficult, so instead our example implementation was a tail attached to a (totally functioning) old-style alarm clock. The tail wagged in panic while the alarm went off to wake you up, swayed happily if you turned off the alarm, and thumped in annoyance if you snoozed too often. I really like the idea of a world where every household object has a personality.

boston visit

someone was complaining that i hadn't written an entry in a while. so here you go. i'm updating my blog. the end.

just kidding. a long time since i've updated my blog means lots of randomness. let's see... i spent the last weekend in boston, visiting friends and going to anime boston. i managed to finish my costume of one of my favorite anime characters in time:

i got to visit with many friends that I've missed, and eat at many places i've missed =) It was a good trip.

i went to this sushi place on Boylston Street that had exactly 1,000 paper cranes on the walls:

and i saw that cloud at the convention, who i thought was pretty hot-- and it's a girl =P

Someone has been taking me on cute dates. Hiking here , and then to an arcade that had a Pop 'n Music machine -- this version!

i am so psyched about this weekend! i am going to san francisco with friends, stopping by japantown to eat the best mochi ever and browse through craft books at kinokuniya... then heading to a vivenne westwood exhibit... yes you heard me right, a vivienne westwood exhibit, aren't you jealous?? and then watching spiderman 3 at the metreon.

wheeee! i will tell you how it goes ^___^

disneyworld pics

have i mentioned how much i love disneyworld? i grew up watching disney movies. i've dressed up as cinderella and snow white for halloween. the ride, "pirates of the carribean" is the reason i love pirates. my brother is 11, and my family thought it would be a good time to take him to disneyworld. i wasn't even afraid that i had outgrown it, and i was right. my brother was actually the one who thought he was too old for disneyworld. but he ended up loving it, and cried when we had to go home.

i like roller coasters, but i like them even better when they have pretty scenery. i loooved the new yeti ride they have in animal kingdom. and i get a huge kick out of 3d movies.

me kissing a troll

my favorite ride though, has always been "it's a small world". i thought it was great before, but they've added more countries to it, so now it's longer and even better!!
